A Cold Press Soap Workshop will be held during the Spring Garden Fair on Saturday, April 25, from 1 to 3 pm. In this hands-on session participants will learn to craft natural soap at home. The workshop covers the fundamentals of the time-honored cold process method, including the safe handling of lye, selecting wholesome oils, and mastering scent blending and curing techniques. Attendees will leave with two bars of handmade lavender soap and the skills to continue the craft independently.

Exchange Place’s popular wreath making workshops are held each year the week before Christmas in the Country. Participants learn basic wreath making techniques, the differences in the various boughs, and how to embellish with natural accents, as each wreath maker creates a unique evergreen wreath to take home. All materials – a variety of fragrant greenery, cones, dried flowers, etc. along with wreath form and wire – are provided. The workshop fee is $40 and includes all materials and light refreshments. The mission of Exchange Place Living History Farm is to preserve and interpret the heritage of mid-19th century farm life in Northeast Tennessee. A private, non-profit organization, Exchange Place is maintained and operated primarily by volunteers and is supported by donations, fundraisers, memberships, and grants.
