The Overmountain Weavers Guild (OMWG) was established to teach, stimulate and furnish inspiration, information and mutual assistance in the growth and development of handweaving, spinning, dyeing, felting, basketry and related fiber arts. Anyone interested in learning and expanding their knowledge and skills in these areas is welcome to join.
OMWG has a permanent home at Roseland for its looms and library. The group holds monthly meetings with informational programs for weavers and spinners. Educational workshops are held several times per year to increase the membership knowledge of various weaving topics. OMWG members participate in Exchange Place events by demonstrating heritage crafts of weaving, carding wool, spinning, and dying of fleece and selling hand woven, hand spun and/or hand knit items. They also maintain an area of the demonstration garden where they grow dye plants.
