The Eden’s Ridge Hearth Cookery Society, based at Exchange Place, strives to research, demonstrate, and promote heritage foodways, particularly of the early American time period and Appalachian region. Members prepare historic receipts (recipes) over an open fire with period appropriate cooking implements and demonstrate their skills at events throughout the year.
Currently, the group consists of adult teachers and members of the Junior Apprentice Youth Program. They maintain the log kitchen and Cook’s Cabin and the historic kitchen garden and medicinal/dye garden at Exchange Place.
The mission of Exchange Place Living History Farm is to preserve and interpret the heritage of mid-19th century farm life in Northeast Tennessee. A private, non-profit organization, Exchange Place is maintained and operated primarily by volunteers and is supported by donations, fundraisers, memberships, and grants.
