Herb Saplings is a focus group of the Southern Appalachian Plant Society (SAPS), a non-profit educational organization interested in promoting sound horticultural practices in our homes and communities. Herb Saplings meet monthly February – November to learn more about the history and uses of herbs.
Over the years Herb Saplings members have offered programs at Exchange Place on growing and using herbs, presented Walks and Talks at festivals, and researched historical uses of herbs. They have donated plants, planted, weeded and pruned in the herb garden and other gardens at Exchange Place, and have volunteered with herb related hands-on activities at festivals and Farm Fest.
The mission of Exchange Place Living History Farm is to preserve and interpret the heritage of mid-19th century farm life in Northeast Tennessee. A private, non-profit organization, Exchange Place is maintained and operated primarily by volunteers and is supported by donations, fundraisers, memberships, and grants.
